Common questions

Is Tend really free?

Yes. Tend is free to download and use. There are no hidden charges, subscriptions, or in-app purchases in the current version.

Does Tend require an account?

No. Tend works without any account, login, or email address. You open the app and start using it.

Where is my data stored?

Everything you enter in Tend stays on your device. Tend does not operate a cloud server or database. Your recovery schedules and care information are stored locally using Apple's on-device storage and protected by your device's built-in encryption.

What happens when I upload a document?

When you photograph or upload a discharge document, Tend sends it to Anthropic's Claude API for parsing. This is the only moment any data leaves your device. The transmission is encrypted, Anthropic does not use your data to train its models, and no copy of your document is stored on any server. Once parsed, the structured result is returned to your device.

What types of documents can Tend parse?

Tend works best with post-surgical discharge instructions. It handles most standard hospital discharge formats — typed, printed, or photographed. Handwritten notes may produce less accurate results. Support for additional document types including sick visit notes and chronic illness management plans is coming in a future update.

How do I delete my data?

Because all data is stored on your device, you can delete everything by uninstalling the Tend app. All associated data is permanently removed when the app is deleted.

Is Tend available on Android?

Not currently. Tend is available for iPhone and Mac. An Android version is not planned for the immediate future, but if this is important to you, let us know at hello@commongenelabs.com — it helps us prioritize.
